    A brief description of the Municipality of New Bataan. New Bataan is a first class municipality at the Compostela Valley province of the Philippines. It has a total land area of 688.6 km2 (55,315 has.) and situated north and west of Davao Oriental province; south of Municipality of Compostela a west of Municipality of Maragusan. New Bataan is surrounded with mountain ranges that keeps the place away from coming typhoons. The municipality is composed of more than 50% of forest that has been the sources of living for some people live in there. The municipality is also watered by various rivers. This is the reasons why New Bataan has a many hidden paradises like majestic waterfalls, extraordinary cold springs and inland resorts; and breathtaking and magical mountains.






Mal`lumagpak Falls





MALUMAGPAK FALLS

    One of the famous falls found in New Bataan is the Mal`lumagpak Falls. A day of walk and ride of a `Habal- Habal motorcycle found the pleasure, relief, and pride at the end of the road. For many adventurers who want a different trekking experience and an appreciation of waterfalls, the Municipality of New Bataan has a lot to offer like the stunning beauty of Mal`lumagpak Falls. It gives a breathtaking view of nature and an escapade that many explorer crave to experience.

    One of the regions’s newly discovered eco-tourism destinations, Mt. Manurigao-Malumagpak is one of the best hiking spots that enable tourists to discover the hidden treasures within the province. Located at the heart of New Bataan, the mountain is 4,055 feet above sea level and home to the 230-foott Malumagpak Falls. The trek is a tough adventure yet a thrilling experience as you embrace the peak.





White Peak


WHITE PEAK

    This is the magical mountain called The White Peak, also known as Mount Pandadagsaan, in Barangay Andap, New Bataan, in the province of Compostela Valley. After seeing, a feeling that you are in the movie `AVATAR` because when hit by sunlight, gives an almost sparkling, crystal-like towering appearance as contrasted to the thick green moss that surround it. It has been called White Peak by local mountaineers because of the limestone embedded on its rocky peak of the mountain. It is considered by Philippine mountaineers as a much difficult climb than Mount Apo, the country's highest mountain peak, hence, first time would-be climbers are not allowed for safety reasons.

    As in most cloud forest, trees are generally shorter but with longer and thicker stem and the leaves smaller, but thicker, and harder compared to lower tropical moist forests in the same region. In view of its high altitude and moisture, several number of different plants in the forest can be found.



 

NEW BATAAN INLAND RESORTS

    New Bataan is blessed to have many cold springs and gives the local the idea to create a cold spring inland resorts. Currently, there are seven inland resorts in the Municipality of New Bataan. All of these resorts are beautiful and relaxing. The water is clearer than crystal, cleaner than white colder than ice. And this is the reason why over a thousand Davao De Oro mainlanders and a people outside the province chose to soothe themselves in the cool spring and rushing clear river waters in Andap. Surround yourself with serenity and have a relaxing stay where you can unwind in an inland resorts surrounded by lush greenery and towering mountains. During holidays and weekends all the cottages were fully occupied and visiting over and over again.
